Asks at the two moments that matter
When a shopper is about to leave a product page, and when they remove an item from the cart. The cart question names the product they removed, right inside your cart page or drawer.
Exit-intent survey for Shopify
Pre-Exit Survey asks one short question when a shopper is about to leave a product page or removes an item from the cart. You see the top reasons for each product, so you know what to fix.
Quick question
What stopped you from buying today?
The missing piece
Most visits to an online store end without a sale. Your reports can show the page someone left from or the item they took out of the cart, but not the reason: the price, the shipping, the size, or a missing detail.
The quickest way to find out is to ask, at the moment they leave, while the reason is still on their mind.
What your analytics show
Where they left. Not why.
What shoppers tell you

When a shopper is about to leave a product page, and when they remove an item from the cart. The cart question names the product they removed, right inside your cart page or drawer.
On phones it slides up from the bottom, with big buttons that are easy to tap.
Opened the size chart, then left? It asks about size, not price. You choose the rules.
Sensible limits are on from the start, and you can change every one.
See the top reason overall and for each product, so you know whether to fix a size guide, a shipping rate or a price.

No names, emails or phone numbers. It saves the answer and the product, and follows your store’s cookie consent settings.
Shoppers who already added the product to their cart aren’t asked, and nothing ever shows during checkout.

When a shopper is about to leave a product page, or removes an item from their cart, a small card asks one short question with a few answers to tap. You see the answers in your Shopify admin, grouped into top reasons overall and for each product.
It's a short question shown to a visitor at the moment they seem about to leave a page. Instead of guessing from analytics why people didn't buy, you ask them while the reason is still fresh.
Shopify store owners who get visitors and add-to-carts but fewer sales than they'd like, and want to know what's stopping people. It's simple enough to run without a developer.
On a computer, it asks when the mouse heads for the tab bar or the shopper presses Back. On a phone, it watches for the Back button, a fast scroll up toward the address bar, or a shopper coming back after switching apps. It only asks after the shopper has spent a little time on the page (8 seconds by default).
Out of the box, product pages ask “What stopped you from buying today?” and the cart asks “Why did you remove [product]?”. You can rewrite both questions and every answer, and allow an “Other” answer with a short text box.
If a shopper opened the size chart, scrolled to the reviews or opened shipping info before leaving, the survey can ask a more fitting question, such as “Couldn't find your size?”. You choose these rules and their questions.
No. You turn on the Pre-Exit Survey app embed in your theme editor and save. There's no code to paste, and turning the embed off removes the survey from your store.
It runs as a Shopify app embed, so it works with Online Store 2.0 themes such as Dawn and Horizon and with older themes too. The cart question works on cart pages and cart drawers.
Yes. By default it uses your theme's font and colors. You can also pick where it shows on desktop (bottom-right slide-in, center or bottom sheet), rounded or square corners, a button color and the thank-you message.
Yes. Run it on all products, or only on the products or collections you pick. You can also turn it on or off for desktop and mobile, and for each of the two moments.
Yes. The app has preview buttons that open a product page or your cart with the survey showing straight away. Preview visits are never counted in your results.
The script is small, loads from Shopify's own servers and waits until your page has loaded. It doesn't block your theme from showing.
Shoppers who already added the product to their cart aren't asked when leaving its page, and signed-in shoppers aren't asked about products they've bought before. Nothing shows during checkout.
It's built not to. By default a shopper is asked at most once a day, not about the same product again for 14 days, and not at all for 30 days after answering or 3 days after closing it. They can close it with one tap, and you can change every one of these limits.
On the Answers page in the app, inside your Shopify admin. You see your top reasons, the reasons for each product, written “Other” answers, and how many shoppers were asked and answered, for the last 7, 30 or 90 days or dates you choose.
The share of shoppers who answered out of the shoppers who were asked. Each shopper counts once, however many times they saw the question.
Yes. Download every answer as a CSV file to use in a spreadsheet, on both plans.
Yes. The Free plan includes every feature and up to 50 answers a month. If you need more, Unlimited is $4.99 a month, billed through Shopify.
An answer is one shopper tapping a reason (or writing one in “Other”). Shoppers who close the question without answering don't count, and neither do your own preview visits.
The survey pauses until the start of next month, in your store's time zone. Every answer you've collected stays in the app. Upgrade to Unlimited at any time to keep it running.
No. Both plans include both questions, questions based on what the shopper did, frequency limits, the look settings, every report and the CSV download. The only difference is the number of answers each month.
Unlimited is $4.99 every 30 days, billed by Shopify on your normal Shopify bill. You approve it in Shopify, and there are no extra fees from us.
Yes. Cancel from the Plan page in the app and you go back to the Free plan. Your answers and settings stay. Uninstalling the app also ends the plan.
No. It saves the answer, the product it was about, which moment it was (leaving a product page or removing a cart item) and a random browser ID used to avoid asking the same shopper too often.
The survey follows your store's Shopify privacy settings. If a shopper declines in your cookie banner, the survey doesn't keep its browser ID between visits.
Yes. You can delete every answer for your store from the Answers page. When you uninstall the app, your store's data is deleted after Shopify sends its store deletion request.
Turn it on in your theme with no code. Free for up to 50 answers a month, then $4.99 a month for unlimited.
